The Story of Venom:
Forged on commission for the Assassin’s Guild of Tark, Illantul’s largest city-state, Venom was the blade of choice when a client paid in gold for a mark’s death to be prolonged and painful. The handle is said to contain the poisonous stinger of a giant spider from the caverns deep in the mountains of Uhl. The stinger continuously leaches the monster’s unique poison into the blade so the slightest prick causes days of convulsions, pain, and suffering which always ends in death.
Actual Design and Construction:
The blade was forged by Windlass Steelcrafts using 1085, High Carbon Steel. Both sides of the blade are hand-etched and blued, depicting a poisonous spider descending from her web. The guard is crafted from brass with etching that continues the spider web motif on the blade. The fluted handle sits atop of a brass spacer and is crafted from African Blackwood. Set into the handle, the pommel is a vertical one-inch diameter (⅝ inch wide) brass disk, portraying another etched spider on both sides. A brass skull crushed pommel nut is threaded on the through tang, completing the blade’s “take-down design
