The Story of the Finger of Death:
Powerful wizards rely upon their spellcraft and range during melee, but often carry a dagger in case of unforeseen close combat. Illantul’s most powerful wizard embedded his mastery of the legendary spell, “The Finger of Death”, into his personal blade. The magical blade is said to deliver the same effect as the spell whenever it makes contact with one’s foe.
Actual Design and Construction:
The blade was forged by Windlass Steelcrafts using 1085, High Carbon Steel. Both sides of the blade are hand-etched and blued, depicting a cloaked skeletal arm wielding a blade inside of a rimmed shield. The ricasso was also reshaped and blued. The guard is hand carved from solid brass with each side forming a skeletal finger. The handle of the blade’s through tang design is two pieces of African Blackwood and separated by a brass spacer. Finally, the skull crusher pommel is carved from brass and threaded onto the through tang, completing the blade’s “take-down design.
