The Story of the Devil’s Thorn:
The Devil’s Thorn was forged deep in the mountains of Uhl by a clan of dwarves being forced to the will of men. Realizing that this particular blade was too powerful to gift to the race of men, a small contingent of dwarves smuggled it out of their mines. Bound for the neighboring wastes of Illantul, the renegade dwarves were set upon by sand dragons and their gnoll riders. During the ensuing slaughter the blade was lost to the wastes only to resurface 500 years later. No wielder has ever known the full extent of its power, but the Devil’s Thorn is said to have slayed a hundred, hundred foes by a single hand
Actual Design and Construction:
The blade was forged by Windlass Steelcrafts using 1085, High Carbon Steel. I dramatically altered the original blade design into a Kris style blade. The entire length of both sides of the blade are hand-etched and blued, depicting a menacing thorn vine entwined around the image of a thin blade. The guard is crafted from brass with each side carved into a matching dragon head motif. The handle of the blade’s through tang design sits atop a brass spacer and is fashioned from alternating pieces of African Blackwood and ⅛ inch solid brass. Finally, the pommel is made of two separate pieces, a brass crown of three thorns encasing a patinaed brass sphere. Both are threaded onto the through tang, completing the blade’s “take-down design”
