The Story of Sea Wolf:

The worst of Illantul’s criminals were taken across the shifting sea and marooned on the forgotten isles as a death sentence for their terrible crimes.  This was the fate that befell Protesis, the governor of Tark, when he was convicted of a murder he swore he did not commit.  Having left him for dead, the good men and women of Tark were certain they would never hear from Protesis again.  How he reappeared some two and ten years later as a raider along the shores of Illantul, is the stuff from which legends are made.  Captaining a longship, Protesis who now called himself The Sea Wolf, had joined with a clan of berserkers from the far western reaches of the world. Raiding Illantul as the Sea Wolf, the former governor now had countless murders attributed to his axe of the same name.  When thrown, Sea Wolf flies with such force and accuracy that any man who draws its ire is soon to die.  Once Sea Wolf strikes down its victim, it is said to magically return to the hand of the one that sent it forth on its deadly mission.

Actual Design and Construction:

The axe head is a reclaimed single bit high carbon steel head that I ground back to clean steel and cut into its current bearded form.  Both sides are hand etched with the image of a berserker and his longship, battling through troubled seas   The handle is made of charred black hickory, the head is hung with walnut wedges, and a brass belly plate depicting the initials, SW, completes the build.  The bottom seven inches of the handle are wrapped in black deer hide lacing, giving the axe a comfortable grip.
