The Story of the Evenfall:

Evenfall was forged by the elves for the sole purpose of eliminating the threat posed by the Orcs of the eastern mountains of Illantul. Ever shunning the light of day, the Orcs descended upon the eleven city of Laime each night under the cover of darkness. Through some evil magic, the Orcs drew unnatural strength from the darkness and became a formidable enemy of the eastern elves.  That is until the great elven smiths forged Evenfall.  This elven short blade appeared not much different than other blades carried by the elves, but as the day’s last light receded into darkness, Evenfall’s magic was revealed.  The runes upon the blade could be made to burn so bright in the darkness as to completely sap the strength from any Orcs within sight of the wielder.  With the Orcs incapacitated, they were quickly dispatched by a single flick of Evenfall’s blade.  Shortly after the appearance of Evenfall, it was said that there were no longer enough living Orcs to trouble the Eastern elves.

Actual Design and Construction:

The blade blank was forged by Windlass Steelcrafts using 1085, High Carbon Steel.  I acid etched down the entire blade, leaving the elven runes and decorative forest scrollwork protruding outward from the flat of both sides of the blade.  The guard was fashioned from solid brass with a scrolling end to match the blade’s etched scrollwork.  The spacer that sits atop the guard is also fashioned from brass.  The handle is carved from African Blackwood with a ½ in thick angled decorative brass strip mid-handle.  The handle ends in a carved scroll to match both the guard and the blade etching.  This blade has a hidden tang design with steel line-up pins throughout; the handle is epoxied and pinned to the tang.
