The Story of the Dragon’s Tail:
Legend tells of smiths that harnessed dragon’s flames to heat their forges, creating steel blades that were both indestructible and infused with a sliver of dragon magic. The Dragon’s Tail is one such blade, said to be capable of easily penetrating the strongest armor of men and the scales of all manner of beast.
Actual Design and Construction:
The blade was forged by Windlass Steelcrafts using 1085, High Carbon Steel. I rounded the blade where it enters the guard. The entire length of both sides of the blade are hand-etched with a raised dragon’s tail in a recessed and blued frame. The triple-pointed guard is crafted from solid brass. A brass spacer seperates the guard from the handle. The handle of the blade’s through tang design is carved from Central American katalox wood and contains four inlaid brass V’s. Finally, the pommel is made from a 1 inch diameter glass sphere attached to a brass base. The pommel is threaded onto the through tang, completing the blade’s “take-down” design.
