The Guild of the Gilded Hilt specializes in handcrafted fantasy daggers and swords.  Each one-of-a-kind weapon (I do not and will not make additional copies of any of my work) is made starting with a steel blade blank from a reputable forge such as Hanwei/Tinker or Windlass Steelcrafts.  The blades may be altered and are then hilted with custom designed guards, handles, pommels, etc.   

Dagger blades are hand etched with fantasy motifs, and each dagger has an accompanying handcrafted leather sheath which I designed specifically for the blade .   Designs may use a variety of materials, including steel, brass, copper, antler or horn, exotic hardwoods, leather, and glass.   The weapons are all constructed with hidden or through tang designs and have steel alignment pins used throughout the guard and handle construction.  Pommels may be tapped and attached to a threaded tang (take-down construction) or permanently attached, depending on the design.  

I also believe that a quality blade needs a proper place to reside, which is why I handcraft a wooden box out of yellow poplar hardwood with walnut splines for each of my creations.  The box includes a custom cut foam bed to precisely fit each dagger and sheath. Finally, and most importantly, (to me at least), each fantasy blade comes with its own story.  The blade’s tale tells of the magical role it played in a world of my imagination, a story that served as the inspiration for me to create it.  

All Guild of the Gilded Hilt pieces are handcrafted requiring hours of grinding, hand filing, and sanding. (I do not use precision power tools such as a lathe, CNC, or a mill) As such each piece may contain slight imperfections, such as small sanding blemishes, a slight gap where the blade meets the handcrafted guard, or minor asymmetries between the sides of carved or etched pieces.
