The Story of QueJenn’s Lair:

Long before Caratis fell into darkness and transformed into the wraith known as the Lich king of Bolandorr, he walked the land as a powerful human wizard whose deeds were regaled throughout Illantul. Caratis was often seen traveling the country and could be easily identified by the presence of his strange familiar, QueJenn, perched upon his shoulder.  QueJenn appears as a small purple dragon, brought to this world from the astral plane by Caratis’s magic and bound to a blade where QueJenn exists in a magical torpor. With each turn of the moon, QueJenn can be called from the dagger to take corporeal form and will do the bidding of whomever wields QueJenn’s Lair.  While in his physical form, QueJenn dispels all magic (save his own) in a large area surrounding the holder of his lair.  He can also use his powers to deliver psionic blasts to the minds of enemies, often leaving them worse than dead.  After the fall of the Lich King, QueJenn’s Lair is said to have been discovered in the castle at Bolandorr, a priceless weapon in the hands of whoever may possess it.   

 Actual Design and Construction:

The blade was forged by Windlass Steelcrafts using 1085, High Carbon Steel.  Both sides of the blade are hand-etched and blued, depicting a cloaked skeletal arm wielding a blade inside of a rimmed shield. The ricasso was also reshaped and blued.  The guard is hand carved from brass with each side forming a skeletal finger.   The handle of the blade’s through tang design is two pieces, carved from African Blackwood and separated by a brass spacer.   Finally, the skull crusher pommel is hand carved from brass and threaded onto the through tang, completing the blade’s “take-down design.

Sheath Construction:

The sheath is a traditional dagger design (wet formed to the blade with hand stitching down the back spine) constructed of 4-5 oz. premium veg tan leather.  The body of the sheath is stained black with inset purple dragon scales.  The leather throat and chape are stained an antiqued brown.
